Pippy, poppy, posey and poopy. A few words that spring to mind when I consider why I'm in this business. In many ways, it seems the longer I brood over and articulate my given works the longer I spend working on them.
Yesterday evening or the evening just passed I was at a casual event for the retail launch of Panasonic's new product line for 2014. I passed wind within seconds of being in the newly revamped Shed 6 and I also passed comments to many faces with whom I make no connection, nor did I want to.
For me, I was surrounded by a flurry of unscrupulous tech-nerds and a flurry of new products but we'll get to that later. Right now, I wish to recount and reminisce about the catering and variety of breads and dips that were available before the show.
Personally, I loved the olive dip which one man in passing told me the name for but I have since forgotten. He was a cunt. I enjoyed the olive dip however lightly spread across some white bread that was approximately one day old.
The presentations of the new products were at times interesting but for the most part I did not give a flying fuck. One quite astute observation I did make was the wall color which in fact was a standard off white shade similar to what you might imagine if you imagined a large white wall.
New 4K monitors are spectacular however you cannot buy discs that have 4K content so either you buy an additional up scaling player, watch regular films on an insane tv or wait until they start putting 4K capable discs on the market. Waste of fucking time and no doubt extremely expensive.
They have monitors and refrigerators that monitor you, your use of them and adjust themselves accordingly. Quite frankly, i am content living my own life and do not need my technology to do it for me.
They boast baby monitoring systems and house security monitoring systems alike. If i want to look after my baby I will look after it, I wont observe it through a video camera.
I mean the technology is awesome and highly advanced- Panasonic are a huge payer in the tech race yet I feel as though its a race that i do not wish to be part of as it takes away the need for human input.
I'm Nathan Fox and thanks for reading.
